"The RL is Acura's flagship 4-door sedan that joined the Acura lineup as a replacement for the Legend in 1996 and has previously been redesigned for 1999 and 2005, when SH-AWD was first added. The 2009 Acura RL is redesigned with more aggressive performance-oriented styling and is powered by an all-new 300-horsepower 3.7-liter V6, the most powerful engine ever offered in an Acura sedan. The 2009 Acura RL continues to be a showcase for the latest advances in electronic technology including Acura's Collision Mitigation Braking System, Adaptive Cruise Control and improved Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD). The RL also offers AcuraLink weather, a new Note function for XM Radio, Traffic Rerouting, Active Sound Control, Smart Entry, Bluetooth Audio and HandsFreeLink that now features over 700 voice commands and improved voice recognition. The 2009 Acura RL also features a new version of the Sequential SportShift 5-speed automatic transmission with 'smart' steering wheel mounted paddle shifters and a new straight-gate console gear selector. The available Collision Mitigation Braking System uses a millimeter-wave radar unit mounted in the grille to detect vehicles ahead and monitor potential rear-end collisions, to alert the driver when the likelihood of a collision increases, and to help reduce the impact on front occupants by pre-tensioning the front seatbelts and applying the brakes should a collision prove to be imminent."
